Meet your Groomer

My name is Cindy! Founder of Dogwood Pet Salon!

At Dogwood, I’m committed to creating a clean, soft, and peaceful environment for every dog in my care. As someone who is sensory-sensitive myself, I know how much environment matters-not just for dogs, but for groomers and pet parents, too. That’s why compassion and connection are at the heart of everything I do.

In an industry often shaped by hustle culture, I’ve learned that the most meaningful results come when we slow down and focus on what truly matters: kindness, mindfulness, and quality care.

My vision is to help shape a grooming culture that nurtures growth and honors the well-being of all of us. A space where dogs feel safe, groomers feel supported, and pet parents feel seen and valued.

If that resonates with you, welcome to Dogwood!  I’m so glad you’re here.

The Dogwood Grooming Process

Your doggie will be started right away. At the very most they will be waiting for about 5-10 minutes while the dog prior is having their finishing touches done.

I will begin the grooming process by trimming and grinding their nails, shaving their pads and sanitary area if applicable. I would then pluck their ears if needed, and follow up with a cleaning solution. After that if needed I would do minimal dematting/brushing prior to the bath. All dogs have cotton balls placed in their ears to minimize water getting into their ears during the bath.

They get a specific shampoo for their coat and skin needs. If they are particularly dry then that would be followed up by conditioner. Only facial shampoos are used on the face and shampoo in the eyes is avoided as much as possible. They would get a good towel drying and brought back to the grooming table.

At the table I would place new cotton balls in the ears to help with ear protection with the drier. If needed a happy hoodie would be used as well for sensory sensitive dogs. The haircut is done after they’re fully dry and you(the owner) would be contacted either right when your doggie is ready or if you prefer to get contacted prior to the completion of the groom I can do that as well.

Your dog will get individual attention throughout the entirety of the groom and never be put into a pen or kennel unless they would need to wait for pickup. (i.e. work shifts, doing errands etc.)
